Outstanding Changemakers to Be Honoured at 2023 Humanitarian Awards and Magazine Event


In a significant celebration of compassion, innovation, and public service, 16 distinguished individuals and organizations have been named as recipients of the 2023 Humanitarian Awards, set to be recognized at the forthcoming Humanitarian Awards and Magazine Event. This prestigious event seeks to spotlight exceptional contributions toward human welfare, sustainable development, and social impact across Nigeria.

Among this year’s honorees are high-profile leaders, philanthropists, public servants, and grassroots initiatives making real differences in their communities. The awardees include:

1. Gov. Mohammed Umaru Bago – For his progressive leadership and rural development policies.


2. Dr. Gideon Osi – Recognized for advancing healthcare access and rural medical outreach.


3. Kanu Nwankwo – Honoured for his enduring commitment to child health through the Kanu Heart Foundation.


4. Engr. Umar Bindir – For his work in science-led rural empowerment strategies.


5. Hon. Sagir Ibrahim Koki – Celebrated for community-driven infrastructure projects.


6. Fatima Mamman Daura – Acknowledged for advocacy in education and women’s empowerment.


7. Chief Jude Chidera Eze – For his philanthropic interventions in education and housing.


8. Hon. Munira Suleiman Tanimu – For social justice work and gender-focused initiatives.


9. Engr. Tukur Mohammed Lawal (DOKAJIN Funtua) – Recognized for technological empowerment in northern communities.


10. Compassionate Advocacy for the Poor Initiative – A nonprofit delivering direct aid and sustainable support to impoverished populations.


11. Alhaji Muhammad Mustapha (Angry Ustaz) – For mobilizing youth for civic and social development through advocacy.


12. Secure the Future International Initiative – Honoured for their role in education and youth capacity building.


13. Sparkle Foundation – A women-led foundation tackling menstrual poverty and youth empowerment.


14. Hajia Noyinmot Olasunkanmi Busari – For contributions to maternal health and family welfare services.


15. Hon. Peter Akpanke – Recipient of the Humanitarian Award for Rural Empowerment and Sustainable Resources, recognizing his holistic, grassroots projects in infrastructure, agriculture, and solar energy solutions.


16. Umeaduma Chidimma Maria-Gorretti – Awarded the Excellence in Financial Innovation & Leadership Award for her pioneering efforts in fintech strategy, data-driven growth, and inclusive financial education.



This year's awards also coincide with the unveiling of the latest edition of the Humanitarian Magazine, which will feature exclusive stories, interviews, and spotlights on each honoree's work and legacy
